Emma's Torch

2019-2022; 2024 - Present

Emma's Torch is a non-profit social enterprise that trains refugees, asylees, and survivors of human trafficking in the culinary arts and helps them build meaningful careers in the culinary industry.

Through a 3-month paid culinary apprenticeship, tailored mentorship, and job placement services, Emma's Torch prepares students for sustainable employment in an industry in which their culinary heritages can be celebrated.

Arbor Rising is partnering with the Emma's Torch management team on a number of key deliverables, including:

  • Theory of change — clarifying the population served, scope of intervention, progress milestones and target long-term outcomes

  • Financial model — to monitor fundraising progress, create multiyear budget projections, and track key programmatic outcomes

  • Outcomes dashboard — identifying, carefully defining, and setting targets for key outcomes and leading indicator

  • Performance management system – establishing roles, goals, and accountability targets for staff

  • Senior team optimization – codifying team purpose, roles and responsibilities, guiding principles, meeting agendas, meeting cadence, and decision-making
